Two-and-a-half years ago Brett Chism and Dave Vitkay fought at Wild Bill’s Fight Night at a time when both fighters were working their way up the ranks of Georgia’s elite fighters. Chism won the fight knocking Vitkay out at the 3:18 mark in round 1.

Since that day, Sept 12, 2009, to be exact, both fighters have become two of the state’s most experienced fighters and both are now ranked in the top four in Georgia as Chism is #1 and Vitkay is #4.

On Friday, March 9, again at Wild Bill’s Fight Night and this time as the main event, they will face off for the vacant Georgia Fighters Championship (GFC) Middleweight Title!

Chism enters with a 15-11 record and trains with The HardCore Gym in Athens. Vitkay is one of Knuckle Up Fitness’ top fighters and trainers and sports a record of 10-11-1.

The undercard should be just as impressive as Atlanta’s most exciting fighter, Diego Saraiva, steps back into action in the co-main event. Saraiva, a UFC and Bellator vet, became famous for his two Fight of the Year performances at Wild Bill’s last year against Ronnie Rogers. His Friday, March 9 fight should be another stand up war as he puts his 20-13 record up against North Carolina’s Keith Richardson (4-0 amateur record, 6-2 pro record).

The night will also see one of X3 Sports’ top fighters Steele McCall vs North Carolina’s Blaine Thomas (recently defeated Knuckle Up’s Anthony Nieves at Wild Bill’s Fight Night), Gui Curry will vacate his amateur GFC belt to make his pro debut versus Rodriguez MMA’s Leon Etienne and another X3 Sports fighter Pat Mandio will go against North Carolina’s Ricky Rainey.

On the amateur side, local hero Shea Taylor will fight again for the second time since having his leg amputated. He became America’s first ever fighter to compete with a prosthetic leg when he fought and won in November. Now he puts his 2-0 record on the line versus the 1-1 Elvis Cruz from Gentry’s MMA.

And there will be an amateur GFC title on the line as Striker’s Nick Beal (#2) faces X3 Sports’ Marques Jackson (#9).

Joe Elmore and Ronnie Rogers have seen each other fight. They’ve fought the same opponents. They’ve warmed up in the same locker room before fights. And they’ve been known for knocking out their competition and earning fight of the night honors several times ove.

Now, finally, on Friday, Jan 27 at Wild Bill’s Fight Night, they will fight each other. It’s a fight that many are titling a 2012 Fight of the Year candidate due to the standup style that both fighters possess. While every fighter claims in pre-fight interviews “I wanna stand and bang with my opponent,” not many end up doing such. Elmore and Rogers are two unique fighters that do.

Also on the card is MMA fighter Dymond Jones making a transition to fight muay thai to take on Alabama’s difficult Adrian Miles. And in a reversal, Knuckle Up Fitness’ undefeated muay thai fighter Moe Travis, will be switching from muay thai for her first MMA fight against the more experienced Ivey Turner.

Stacked is the only way to describe the upcoming Saturday, Nov 5 Wild Bill’s Fight Night. Fight fans that want to see a ton of quality MMA and Muay Thai fights in one night are about to get it as at least 12 fights are featured on Saturday, Nov 5 at Wild Bill’s Fight Night!

Topping the card is Jeff “Little Popeye” Bedard in his return to the ring at Wild Bill’s at the ripe age of 41. Bedard hasn’t fought since May of 2009 while spending time to open up his own wrestling academy in Buford, GA. He now returns with a 12-2 record and faces the much younger Victor Ditola who sports a 9-4 record from SC.

Dustin Chovanic, who has won fight of the night several times in Georgia will face North Carolina’s Brian Keller. And Scott Farhat, despite losing two in a row, will step up in competition yet again to fight Chris Cain from South Carolina. Cain recently ended the undefeated career of Farhat’s training partner Gerry Tena and Farhat is looking for revenge for Striker Fight Center. One or two more pro fights should be added shortly.

While it seems as though each Wild Bill’s Fight Night in 2011 has had some great fights on the card, the 40th edition of the series has some fights that hardcore fight fans can’t wait for.

On Friday, Sept 23 at Wild Bill’s Fight Night #40, the card will be headlined by Atlanta’s UFC and Bellator veteran Diego Saraiva rematching with South Carolina’s Ronnie Rogers. The two fought in an epic battle earlier this year with Rogers taking a controversial split decision. Not only was the fight close, but Saraiva claimed afterward that Rogers’ body was greased with vaseline; something that is illegal in MMA. Naturally, Rogers disputes the claim and looks to defeat Saraiva yet again while Saraiva looks to even the history and possible push for a third and deciding fight.

In a fight that is raising eyebrows nationally, Shea Taylor returns to the ring for the first time since losing his left leg in a motorcylce accident. Taylor, 1-0, will face a huge test in Georgia’s undefeated amateur Josh Cook (3-0). Taylor will become America’s first MMA fighter to compete with the sanctioning of a state athletic commission.

In supporting fights, Tecia Torres, a standout female kickboxer, will be making her MMA debut. And world champion female kickboxers Mary Matia and Amica Olchovik will find out who Atlanta’s best female fighter is at 125 lbs.

For an event that has been in the works for more than a year now, it’s quickly approaching on Saturday, Sept 17.

Harley-Davidson of Cartersville has been in discussions with David Oblas about this event for more than a year and it’s about to come to fruition. It’s not just going to be a night of fights; but an all day and all night event!

During the day of Saturday, Sept 17, there will be a bbq on site at Harley-Davidson of Cartersville, four live bands, a bikini contest at 6 pm and then the fights at 7 pm. The fights will be the last part of a jam packed day and will take place outside in a cage – the first time that this has happened in Georgia in at least 10 plus years.

“I’m extremely excited about this event,” said promoter/matchmaker David Oblas. “I’ve promoted so many fight nights that it’s exciting to have something that’s a bit different. This is going to be an all day / all night event with the fights at night in the cage taking center stage. When people in Georgia say they want to expose MMA to a new crowd, this is going to do an incredible job of that. This event is taking place during the Anniversary party of Harley-Davidson of Cartersville and we expect a few thousand fans to be at these fights! The fights are going to be the main event of an incredibly fun filled day!”

In what’s been titled the MMA EVENT OF THE SUMMER, Wild Bill’s Fight Night returns for #37 on Saturday, June 18.

The main event features one of Atlanta’s, if not the Southeast’s most dangerous and exciting fighters, Diego Saraiva. He has headlined several shows in Atlanta at Wild Bill’s and most recently won at Harrah’s Casino in Cherokee, NC.

On the last Wild Bill’s Fight Night, Ronnie “Bam Bam” Rogers quickly disposed of ATT Atlanta fighter Marciel Rosa. Immediately after the fight, Rogers called out Saraiva. Without hesitation, Saraiva agreed and Saraiva vs Rogers is on!

The co-main event features Will Kuhn taking on Joe Heink out of Team Haycraft in Kentucky. Kuhn is 7-5 and has been on the giving end of several huge slams and knockouts in Atlanta. Heink is 4-2 with his only fight in Atlanta being a win over Jeff Boudreaux at Wild Bill’s. Boudreaux defeated Kuhn last year, so that fight should be as even as it can be.

Byron Bloodworth will fight for the first time ever at Wild Bill’s as he takes on tough Jose Tezanos.

Chase Thomas and Genaro Tena will lock horns in a rival cross town matchup at 145 lbs. Both are undefeated as pros with the winner set to move up in the next GFC rankings.

In a huge female muay thai fight, KBX’s Mary Matia is set to fight Unit 2′s Ashley Connor. Despite Mary never losing a fight in Georgia, Ashley enters the fight as a huge favorite due the experience of having more than 15 fights to Mary’s seven fights.
